Gobchang
Gobchang (Grilled Intestines) – As you wander around the streets of Seoul looking for a place to eat you should consider delicious Gobchang. Gobchang, or pork or beef intestines, is so much more delicious than the description makes it sound. It is a tasty meat dish that is covered with a spicy barbecue sauce and smoked or grilled over wood or coals. While often found in restaurants devoted exclusively to cooking gobchang one can also find it from time to time in tent restaurants, or pojangmacha. Usually preferred by men because of the initial wariness about eating intestines, this chewy meat dish is also popular when friends get together for dinner. Depending on the restaurant or personal preference, it can be eaten alone or wrapped in lettuce like other meat dishes. Like other meat dishes in Korea that are consumed with alcohol, gobchang is no exception. Gobchang is eaten almost exclusively with soju as a beverage.
