Chungmu Art Hall

About

Chungmu Art Hall is a non-profit organization founded by the Jung-gu Cultural Foundation and represents the heart of classical and contemporary Korean music and art. As a cultural complex, it boasts high-tech facilities and spacious stages including the Chungmu Gallery, a grand theater, and an array of smaller theaters all expertly designed to provide the very best production values for any performance. The concert hall is close to the Sindang-dong district, a popular shopping and cultural venue for young people where visitors can visit a variety of food markets enjoying favorite Korean snacks such as Tteok-bokki (a broiled dish of sliced rice cake with spicy seasoning). Anyone who wants to experience a taste of an authentic Korean food market would be at home here.

A multicultural theater complex with spacious rest area

Chungmu Art Hall boasts a range of theaters on different scales, all with high-tech facilities. The Grand Theater seats 1,231 while the Black Theater seats 327 and the Blue Theater seats 258, and there are a range of smaller auditoriums and annexes on the fourth and fifth floors. Here all genres of classical and modern music, plays, ballet and musicals are performed every day. The Chungmu Art Hall is also famous for its high-tech lighting and sound system. In particular, the Black theater has been designed as a round shaped auditorium to minimize the distance between the stage and the audience, and produce a perfect, vivid quality of sound for any performance. Behind the scenes, performers can keep watch as they wait backstage via a high-tech system of monitors, installed in the dressing rooms, shower rooms and even rest rooms.
