Baekje Dynasty Tombs at Bangi-dong |
|

|
Historians have long known that the Baekje Dynasty (18 B.C. - A.D. 660) was located on the lower reaches of the Hangang River, but the exact location of its capital has never been discovered. However, the early Baekje tombs of Garak-dong Seokchon-dong, and Bangi-dong support the theory that the capital of the Baekje Dynasty was located somewhere near this area. There are six Baekje-era Tombs of Bang-i-dong, and four of them are located here. Tomb No. 1 is a 2.2 meter-high circular mound with a diameter of 12 meters. A 2.3 ×1.06 meter passageway with a ceiling height of 1.10 meters leads into the main burial chamber which is 2.46 meters wide with a ceiling height of 2.15 meters. A 2.4 meters long 2.1meters wide stone table with a thickness of 0.3 meter, on which the corpse was placed, stands in the center of the chamber.
